Past Food Program Video...
In 2001, Grant A Wish, Inc. started a food program with Windsor Park Lutheran Church, and in 2002 Grant A Wish, Inc. started an independent food program with the Greater Chicago Food Depository directly. Over the past 24 years, Grant A Wish, Inc. has given away over 2, 650,000 lb of food to thousands of people in Chicago.
We continue to improve our food program and system of distribution. We conducted a little analogy of 5 years from 2010 thru 2015 and determined that we have provided food to 13,136 Households and that we have fed 50, 715 Individuals in that period, so imagine how many we have fed in 24 years. We thank the Greater Chicago Food Depository for their support and their dedication to enriching the lives of others through their consistent assistance with food delivery systems.
We welcome donations to help strengthen our food program with the purchase of nutritional food. We welcome food drives and food donations, we welcome pantry volunteers, and we welcome the donation of sanitary pantry supplies. You can help do your part to eliminate hunger in the greater Chicago area. Children suffer the most when there is a lack of food on the table at home. Children who are not able to get nutritional food daily can be physically put in danger of acquiring physical ailments due to a lack of nutritional food, and proper food preparation and it can affect their attention span at school.
Food pantries all across the greater Chicagoland area are making a difference and are helping those in need of food. Join a pantry and get involved to do your part, it will make you feel good to help feed someone in your community. Help where you can and when you can. Grant A Wish, Inc. wants dedicated people to get involved to help us with our food program.
Your financial donation is needed to help us continue our efforts to purchase more nutritional quality food and to continue to make improvements. If you or your company would like to help us, email Vital Thomas at:
vitalthomas@grantawishincchicago.org.
You can make a difference and you can donate funds directly to the Greater Chicago Food Depository. You can also donate to this website, donations are processed through PayPal for our food program or you can mail in a check. Thank you in advance for your support...
The Greater Chicago Food Depository is located at 4100 W Ann Lurie Place Chicago, IL 60632. We feel that providing food not only helps families but most importantly feeds children whose parents may not be able to provide all the nutritional food needed. We try to do our part to help feed people and to eliminate hunger in our community. Together we can and should help to make a difference. Your donation will help support our food program.
We receive free food through US government programs like USDA, FEMA, and TANF. Which helps to supplement our food program, by receiving extra food. As of late 2013/2024, the City of Chicago Department of Family & Support Services is helping our food program with a community block grant, each month through the Greater Chicago Food Depository, which makes it all possible. Each month we must purchase food from the Greater Chicago Food Depository, to be an agency member of the GCFD.
We qualify to receive additional free food through the GCFD from federal food programs. Individuals and corporations can support the Greater Chicago Food Depository directly to help them continue to feed 100's to thousands every year and help the GCFD support local pantries with supportive programs like ours.

Grant A Wish has recorded over 2,500 recurring individual clients within the boundaries of our food program as of the year 2010, that have visited our pantry. Our new boundaries in Chicago are North to 75th St., West to State St., South to 103rd St., and East to Lake Michigan.
We encourage people to seek out pantries in their immediate area for food or call the Greater Chicago Food Depository for pantry locations in your area (773) 247-3663.
We provide food to our clients only twice a month, so we can help feed more families with this restriction. We presently our a client choice food program, allowing food recipients to choose the food they want, instead of preparing bags or boxes of food in advance.
We are seeking dedicated trustworthy volunteers to assist with our food program.
